Custom Coil Material Options

HBR manufactures custom-made coils from a broad array of materials, including:

With assistance from our close vendor network, we custom manufacture coil winding, small diameter tube bending, and coil assembly products in the material that is best suited to your project specifications.  At HBR, we work with wire sizes from 2 to 42 AWG and tube sizes from 1/8” to 1-1/4”. We will also help you select the ideal material for your design.  Whatever material you need, we will do our best to find it and make it work within budget costs.

Stainless Steel Tubes

HBR can provide stainless steel 304 or 316 as an option for your tube coiling applications. We offer ½” O.D. (outside diameter) and below for stainless steel tube.

Stainless Steel Tube 304

Stainless 304 contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The main benefit of 304 is the lower cost corrosion and oxidation resistance option. Stainless 304 is regularly used for manufacturing kitchen equipment, wheel covers, stainless hardware, storage tanks, along with many other applications.

Stainless Steel Tube 316

Stainless 316 is composed of 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. 316, with its increased nickel content, has better corrosion and oxidation resistance over 304.  Due to 316’s superior corrosion resistance, it is commonly used for outdoor structures, high saline environments, and medical-surgical instruments.

HBR also offers a variety of additional services to add value to your stainless-steel tube coils. We can provide machining, assembly, brazing, and more to help streamline your overall production process and save you time and money.

Custom Copper Coils

Custom copper coil materials are extremely versatile and are commonly utilized within RF or RF-Match applications where copper tubing and copper wire are required to transmit liquids, air, or other media to cool or help induce energy of various types of equipment. The copper coil grades that we commonly utilize include:

  • Type K: Has a thick wall that withstands high pressure. Commonly used for cooling/heating, solar, fire protection, domestic water distribution, fuel/oil, compressed air, and natural gas.
  • Type L: Is thinner than Type K but still durable and used for the same applications.
  • Type M: Has a thinner wall than Type K & L. Applications include domestic water, fuel/fuel oil, cooling/heating, fire protection, and solar.
  • DWV (Drain Waste and Vent): Applications include cooling/heating and solar
  • ACR (Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Field Services): Used in natural gas and compressed air applications.

Brass Materials for Coil Parts & Components

HBR Industries manufactures some brass connectors for use with our coiled tubes. Our highly skilled experts have the capabilities to create brass connectors to meet the needs of any customer application. We work with all commercial & military grades of brass and will assist you in choosing and locating the perfect brass material for your application. We can machine brass parts and components to match even the most extreme tolerances. From 1/8” thick brass plates to 1” square brass blocks and more.

Aluminum Tube Bending and Coil Winding

For applications requiring maximum ductility, corrosion resistance, and weldability, aluminum coil material is an ideal option. Aluminum coils are wound around a hollow cylinder and then treated, depending on your application needs. In addition to aluminum coil winding, we also offer small-diameter aluminum tube bending.

Coil Winding with Unconventional Materials

At HBR, we understand that some projects require specialty metal alloys to meet required specifications. When stainless steel, copper, or aluminum simply will not do the trick, we can provide numerous other metal options to suit your project needs. Whether it’s Inconel, PVC coated copper, or another alloy, HBR has you covered.
