Custom Tube Bending & Custom Tube Winding
HBR Industries, Inc. offers precision tube bending and tube winding services to create custom parts and products that match your exact specifications; we can produce precision bends with much smaller dimensions than traditional dimensional call outs. Some of the unique dynamics we can achieve using our custom tube winding and bending services, include:
- Tight bend radii
- Exemplary pitches
- Specialty diameters are achievable using our custom tube bending and winding services.
What’s the Difference Between Tube Bending & Tube Winding?
Custom Tube Bending
Custom tube bending is accomplished when a tube is bent in one or more places, to any angle and on any axis, as in the top photo (at right). A custom-bent tube may include a single 90° bend at the center, or a 35° bend to the left at one end and a 45° bend to the right at the other, or a half-dozen bends of various degrees at various points along its length. Most custom-bent tube requires fairly simple bends/angles, but HBR has the capabilities to provide extreme or intricate bends to meet nearly any requirements.
Custom Tube Winding
Though custom tube winding, tube is wound in a continuous loop, with one coil atop the next, to create a spring-like shape, as in the bottom photo (at right). In most cases, tube is wound into a circular profile, but HBR can also wind tube into square profiles or other shapes, as your designs require.
What’s the Difference Between Metal Tubes & Metal Rods?
Metal tubing is made of metallic elements or alloys and is used for a variety of functions including fluid or gas flow, wiring, structural applications, and even medical uses. Metal tubes are also commonly used as raw materials for industry. Metal tubing comes in various widths and lengths, and it can be round, oval, square, rectangular, or triangular.
In addition, metal tubing can have a seamless, welded, or welded and drawn (W&D) construction. Metal tubes can also be finished, coated, or plated for added strength or protection.
Metal rods are metals and alloys designed in the pattern of round bars or rod, rectangular or flat bars, square bars, hexagons, and other patterns of bar stock. These shapes also come in billet form and generally include a cross-section based on the shape of rod or bar stock. Reinforcing bars are also a type of metal rods that are used to give strength or internally sustain the concrete and masonry structures. Some other forms of metal rods include coil stock and hollow tube stock. Some of the types of rod that we regularly work with, include:
- Copper rods
- Round rods
- Thin metal rod
- Solid copper rods
- Hollow copper rods
- And more
Tube Bending & Tube Winding to Meet YOUR Requirements
No matter the complexity the design or how tight the tolerances may be, HBR Industries, Inc. welcomes the challenges your project presents. Since 1979, we have been turning customers’ designs into tangible products.
We work with both round and square tubing in various diameters, depending on material type. Numerous materials are available, including:
HBR has in-house fixturing capabilities, as well as strategic partnerships with area machine shops to create more complex tooling and fixtures, as needed. Whether your product requires just a few simple turns or dozens of complex angles, we can match the tight tolerances of your design.
Tube Prototypes, Design Assistance & More
In addition to full production runs, HBR’s custom tube winding and bending capabilities can be used to create engineering prototypes to test fit, form, and function, as well as one-off pieces for specialized applications.
Our team will work with you, as needed, to refine your designs for better performance or manufacturability. If your design dimensions or configuration are not working out quite right, if you’re unsure what material option is best for your application, or you need any kind of help in making your parts meet your vision, our team offers expert design assistance.
